Our What and Our Why

Our Story.

Folds Grand Rapids was founded in 2016 by three West Michiganders who were inspired by the nationwide Folds of Honor organization and the work they do with their Patriot Day Golf Outing Fundraiser.

Creating our own local fundraiser to benefit affected families became an ongoing passion and it continues to grow in scope, size, the amount raised, and participation year after year. We couldn’t be more grateful for everyone’s support!

In 2019, Folds Grand Rapids decided to continue our fundraising efforts but with a new goal; an endowment for local students. Our goal was to raise $50,000 to start “spinning off” endowment scholarships managed and executed yearly through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. In keeping with the national mission, recipients would be local college-bound students who have parents who are either fallen or disabled veterans or first responders.

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve since reached our goal and have awarded 3 deserving students scholarships to their attending schools. Every August, we hold our Folds GR Golf Outing to raise even more to support the children of veterans and first responders.

Hope to see you there and thanks to those who have given in the past!
